    Description

148 Canal Zone 38 used in pairs on paper, unsorted colors, spacings, ex-Brett, Scott 4
This is a great group of 74 pairs of Canal Zone 38, the 1c Balboa Type 2 overprint issue of 1913. Lots of Cristobal postmarks, many with only killer cancels. From the George Brett hoard that came from the Panama RR archives he accessed during WW2. All stamps shown in photos. Mixed condition as they were taken directly from envelopes. No inverted centers, but still interesting for study of spacing varieties, cancels and colors. I saw at least one pair from a handmade booklet pane. Scott catalog 4 as singles.
