A rare 19th century George G Bussey & Co, c1880, "Gyro Pigeon" target thrower with its original wood crate and 8 sheet steel pigeons, patented design 1872 as an alternative to the glass target ball launchers of the period.
George Bussey (1829-1889) was the owner of a major sporting good manufacturing and retailing company in London, by 1870 he was listed as a gunmaker, but his company was famous for a wide range of sporting goods, shooting accessories, tennis rackets, golf clubs, billiard balls, croquet sets, table tennis even sword making, his name was always synonymous with quality. He was also a prolific inventor and patented several sporting aids.
