PREFACE:
I was privileged to spend the early years of my life working for Miller Brothers Land and Livestock Company of Chinook, Montana.  Their methods of handling horses and cattle should not be forgotten.  They were, for the most part, the old - time way.  It is the best way yet, in my opinion.
Now this ranch is gone, broken up and sold, and all that was is past history.
I wanted to write a book about this ranch, as I knew it;  it's cowboys, it's horses and cattle, and the things we did and the way we did them.
My formal schooling was very limited.  I was too damn dumb to go to school, so it is hard to say how this book will come out.   But I hope it will be interesting, amusing, and somewhat educational.
So, let the reader remember to use his imagination when all else fails.  And, after reading this book;  don't tell me what's wrong with it, tell me what's right with it, if anything.
