Four Men Hanging. The End of the Old West. By Welborn Hope. Hardcover, dust jacket has sunbleached at the spine, pub. 1974, 145 pages. Inscribed by author. Book has an old brown stain of some sort at the bottom of about 10 pages, o/w very good condition. The author witnessed the hanging of four outlaws in Ada, Oklahoma in 1909. A group of men broke into the jail and took four men who had been accused of murdering the former local sheriff. The men were taken to a nearby barn and lynched. One of the men hanged was "Deacon" Jim Miller who was a suspect in the killing of Pat Garrett and a number of others. At some places it reads like a novel with invented dialogue. A very scarce local history. Shipping weight less than 1 pound.
