INTRODUCTION:
The following narrative is an effort to record the actual experiences of men using work animals, steam power in sawmilling, agriculture, freighting and road construction equipment.  Many of the experiences are of our own while operating steam power.  Others are those witnessed and some that have been told to me during the years by participants of the true stories related.
Some of the humorous incidents though down to earth and simple are actual happenings and sayings including accents, as quoted by these down to earth simple common peoples.  Every effort has been made to portray the incidents in their original true form.
These times were prior radio and television days and modern day comedians.  The humorous incidents were many times retold among the local populance and dwelled upon with extreme enjoyment.
I was personally acquainted with most of the characters involved in this narative.  Most of the photographs show people I have known and are authentic in every sense of the word.  I have made every effort to set up the incidents in a fashion to aid the reader in reliving every page of this book.
